Discovery Science Center comes to Southridge
Southridge students were able to participate in a Science Lab demonstration presented by Zana Bryant of Discovery Science Center Thanks to a grant from the Fontana’s Partnership Best B.E.T. (Business and Education Together). Students in Mrs. Washington, Mrs. Rivera, Miss Coates, and Mr. Liggins’ classes created an “Electrical Motor,” “Learned about Weather,” and “Dissected a Cow’s Eyes. Walk Like an Egyptian!

Hello Southridge Parents and Community!
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Gerald Mullins and I am proud and honored to be the new principal of Southridge Middle School. As a little background, I grew up and went to school right here in Fontana. I taught at Alder Middle School many years ago and thoroughly enjoy middle school students! I taught 7th grade language arts (English) and later wrote and edited language arts lessons designed to help students learn State Standards as well as perform well on state tests. After that I went on to be Assistant Principal at Redwood, Tokay, and then Canyon Crest Elementary schools. I come directly from my previous position where I have been Principal at Hemlock Elementary School for the past seven years. I am proud of what we were able to accomplish in my time at Hemlock where we earned Distinguished School twice (2006 and 2010) and have been one of the “800” schools on the API for the past several years. Most importantly though, above student scores, was that students were learning and getting better academically every day. My proudest achievement is that the students felt their school was a safe place where they knew they were surrounded by adults who cared about them and their education and would do “whatever it took” to help them achieve.
This is my vision for Southridge Middle School. Even as a teacher I wanted to be at Southridge. The teachers and staff have a wonderful reputation and I was told repeatedly before coming here that the school is full of great people who work hard to help students succeed every day! I know that working together we are going to produce great results for all of our students!
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and working together to make our kids successful!!
