It is with great pleasure to be back at Alder Middle School to serve as your Principal for the 2016-2017 school year. I am looking forward to meeting our new students and families and reconnecting with our Alder families. I am eager and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of all students at Alder. We will accomplish this goal by setting high academic expectations and providing supportive systems for all students. By addressing school culture, setting high standards for teacher performance, increased academic expectations for all students and engaging the community, it is our goal at Alder Middle School that all students will be college and career ready.
This year we will continue to work with our teachers and students on the California Common Core Standards. We are now in full implementation of the CCCS which will allow our students to acquire a quality education and prepare students for college and career readiness. We are committed to providing the best learning environment for all students.
I ask you to be a part of your child’s education by supporting our school. Your involvement, partnership and support are greatly appreciated as we work to build and maintain our programs. Participation in our parent meetings, school events, and activities will make a difference. I encourage you to be a part of the Alder family and a part of another successful year!
It is our desire at Alder to promote an educational experience that is exemplary and assures every student succeed to the highest academic level of proficiency. Every staff member at Alder is dedicated to academic and social excellence. We believe strongly that each student will learn in an environment that is safe, orderly, positive and productive with teachers who hold high expectations for all students, both behaviorally and academically.
The Parent-Student Handbook is intended to present information, rules, regulations and procedures that are reflective of Fontana Unified School District and Board Policy. It also contains other information necessary for the success of your child. Parents are asked to read the enclosed material and follow the procedures as outlined, to support the maintenance of a safe and orderly learning environment for all students. It is suggested that the handbook be kept as a reference guide as questions arise during the school year.
In order for students to be successful at Alder, it is critical they attend school every day, all day, unless they are too ill to attend. The daily instruction is essential to building students’ understanding and competency on grade level standards. Instruction that is missed, even for a short period of time, is very difficult to make up. Students who are often absent, tardy or leave early are at a definite disadvantage. We ask you in advance for your cooperation in getting students here on time and not taking them out early unless it is an absolute emergency.
As principal, I will spend most of the instructional day inside the classrooms, monitoring the teaching and learning that is taking place. If you have any questions or concerns, I encourage you to contact me through the front office either before or after class time. If I am unavailable at any moment, please leave a detailed message with the office staff and a number where I can reach you. I look forward to working with the entire school community to provide the highest quality service to the families of Alder Middle School.
By working together we will be successful in having every child meet or exceed grade level standards. I look forward to a great year. I am confident we will have an outstanding school year by working with all our Alder families to continue the tradition of academic excellence!
Go Alder Falcons!!!
