Hello Alder Community,

CST testing is quickly approaching. As parents you can rest assured that your child’s teachers have been, and are continuing to work diligently with your child to prepare them for the CST, as well as the next grade level. As we approach the CST I would like to offer you some pointers in making school, and testing as comfortable as possible for your child. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Mrs. Willis. Here are some tips:

  • Continue to make sure you child does his/her homework
  • Practice “time management” with your child
  • Encourage your child to try hard and do his/her best
  • Model a positive attitude with your child
  • Provide a well-lit, quiet “study area” for your child
  • Keep an organized calendar with important dates, such as testing dates marked
  • Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep on school nights, and before testing
  • Provide a healthy diet for your child Make sure your child attends school, and is on time!
  • Provide time for your child to relax after school, before bedtime. Without video games!
  • Talk about importance of test with your child
  • Praise/reward your child for doing well in school, and on test(s)
  • Encourage them to try to continue to do better

The CST testing window is from April 8th to April 26th. 7th Grade students ONLY take CST writing on March 5th.

Thank you for your support and good luck to all of our students on the CST!!!

Sincerely,

Mr. Swanson
Principal

RACHEL’S CHALLENGE
To encourage kindness around campus we are going to start a, "CHAIN REACTION"

CHAIN REACTION:

  • Each classroom will create their own chain
  • The links of the chain will each be 2 inches by 12 inches, varying in color.
  • A student will write on a link if they have seen kindness to others, have had a kind gesture done to them, or they have acted kindly to another person.
  • They will write the incident as well as their name on a link, then that link will be attached to the others.
  • Aida will be placing in your box, some start up construction paper with an example of the size attached to it by this Friday.
  • At the end of the year we will connect all of or our chains to see how long it will stretch!!!
