Greetings Falcons!

I am excited to have the opportunity to be part of the journey with you and your student towards their future success.  We are excited to begin another exception year as out staff is prepared to promote student learning throughout our grade levels and courses.  Alder students performed exceptionally well in the April administration of our State test (SBAC) and we are confident that our students will achieve great things this school year.

Parental involvement is extremely important, and we will encourage our parents make their student's education a priority by implementing the following strategies:

  1. Ensure your student is at school every single school day.  If your student is on campus, we will be able to teach her/him.
  2. Keep up with your student's academic progress through Parent Q Connect (https://sis.fusd.net/ParentPortal).  Parent Q Connect allows parents to view their student's grades, attendance, and behavior.  Parents should log on daily and address any identified concerns with their student and our staff as soon as possible.  If you do not have a Parent connect log in, please contact our community outreach liaison at (909) 357-5330 Ext. 30246.
  3. Ensure your student arrives on campus on time.  The school gates open at 7:00 am daily. Students who arrive prior to 7:00 am can wait in front of the school where our office staff and three surveillance cameras can monitor them.
  4. Ensure your students eat a healthy breakfast and lunch every morning.  Free breakfast is served every morning (7:00 am-7:25 am) in our cafeteria.  Free lunch is also served during your student's schedule lunch break.

Our first day of school is Wednesday August 7th.  Please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure we have smooth start to the school year.

  • Students need to bring their ID on a daily basis.  A lanyard will be provided to them as they walk on campus so they can wear their ID through out the day.  Students who did not come to orientation will take their ID picture sometime during the school day.
  • The parking lot will be open from 6:30 am to 7:10 for student drop off.  After 7:10, the parking lot will be closed, and parents will be able to pull to the curve on Alder Ave. to drop off their student.   We close the parking lot at 7:10 due to safety reasons; we have a large number of kids who walk to school and we need to ensure their safety as they walk through our parking lot by limiting the number of cars.
  • Students will be informed of their first period class as they enter the school.  A new schedule will be waiting for them in their first period class.
  • Parents will not be allowed on campus to walk their kids to class.  Our leadership students will be on hand to help any new students find their classes.

Once again, I am looking forward a new year with our Falcon family and as always, I welcome feedback and suggestions for improvement from all stakeholders in an effort to better serve our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Moises M. Merlos

RACHEL’S CHALLENGE
To encourage kindness around campus, we are going to start a
"CHAIN REACTION."

CHAIN REACTION:

  • Each classroom will create their own chain
  • The links of the chain will each be 2 inches by 12 inches, varying in color.
  • A student will write on a link if they have seen kindness to others, have had a kind gesture done to them, or they have acted kindly to another person.
  • They will write the incident as well as their name on a link, then that link will be attached to the others.
  • Aida will be placing in your box, some start up construction paper with an example of the size attached to it by this Friday.
  • At the end of the year we will connect all of or our chains to see how long it will stretch!!!
