Welcome to Wayne Ruble Middle School,

It is with enthusiasm and confidence that we begin another exciting year here at Wayne Ruble Middle School.  It is our collective goal to continue to build upon our tradition of academic success and to create stronger bonds with our families and the community.
Our academic program is built around the needs of our students.  Based on CST scores, grades, and school assessments, students will be provided the instruction that will help them to succeed.  This might involve more instructional time, after school tutoring, alternative small group assistance, mentoring, academic clubs, and academic challenges.   Our goal is to build an academic program that is both rigorous and motivating.
We realize that we cannot be successful unless we provide a safe and positive learning environment for our students.  At the middle school level, it is especially important that children feel good about their school.
We have put several things in place to help our students achieve the level of success which will prepare them for high school and beyond.
  1. All students will focus on organization by carrying a three inch binder to school each day with dividers for each subject, a pencil pouch, pens and pencils, extra paper and the student handbook.  Student binders will be checked on a regular basis to ensure that students remain organized and that they have the necessary assignments and required materials each day.
  2. All students are required to keep a record of all class and homework assignments in their student handbook to serve as a reference tool when completing assignments.
  3. Each classroom teacher is committed to working with their colleagues to ensure that all students receive a standards based, grade appropriate and rigorous curriculum and instruction.
  4. Students will be assessed at frequent intervals to ensure that they are on track with their learning goals. This assessment data will allow teachers to respond sooner than later, whether it is with extended learning opportunities or enrichment lessons.
As we commit to work on the above, we need the help of you, our parents.  We need you to help us enforce dress code, to get your student to school every day and to come prepared with their supplies, and also to monitor your student’s grades and assignment due dates online via ZANGLE. We know and believe that involved parents and guardians are the foundation of all great schools.
Thank you so much for being a part of our school family.  Remember, you can call on me at any time with questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Sincerely

Crystal Whitley, Principal
