The 2010 Census is Coming: Be Counted!

Each year more than $400 billion in federal funds are awarded to states and communities based on Census data. This month, the US Census Bureau will provide all households with a 10 question survey aimed at gathering accurate population data. The questionnaire will ask questions such as name, gender, age, race and ethnicity, for each person living at the property address. The questionnaire does not ask for personal information or citizenship status. The 2010 Census has a direct impact on funding for our schools. During these tight budget times it is especially important that every member of our community is counted. Complete your Census and remember, it’s safe, it’s easy, it’s important, and everyone counts.

My name is Terry Abernathy and I am extremely proud to join the Kaiser High School family this year as Principal.  Kaiser is a wonderful place for students from diverse backgrounds to grow educationally, get involved, and have a meaningful high school experience.  In every way that schools are measured, whether it is academically, in the performing arts, or athletically, Kaiser High School excels.

Our curriculum, course offerings, co- and extra-curricular offerings are second to none.  We strive to create an environment where each and every student is given the attention necessary to achieve his/her individual success.  Furthermore, administrators, counselors, teachers and staff are here because they truly believe in a commitment to excellence for every stakeholder!

I encourage students to take advantage of the possibilities and become involved in the extracurricular activities that interest them.  When students become involved in sports, music, drama, and/or school sponsored clubs, scholastic achievement often improves.  Becoming involved teaches our students to budget their time, keeps them involved in productive activities, and holds them in structured, supervised settings with school aged peers with similar values and goals.  I challenge every Kaiser Cat to get involved!

We chose Natalie Iraheta as Student of the Month because she is a brilliant scholar and artist. Her artwork is highly unique and stylized. She is always pushing herself to succeed, both in the arts and academically. As a student, she is courteous, respectful and extremely dedicated. She is also highly involved here at Kaiser; she is president of the Art Club and is active in the AP Biology, Auto, CSF, Key and Cats for Christ Clubs. She hopes to attend either Columbia or New York University to study film.
