No School (Labor Day) on Monday September 6, 2010

A Message From Mr. Valencia, Assistant Principal

Let the word be passed from this day forward … the Spartans are COMING!

Fellow Spartans of Jurupa Hills High School we are about to embark on a Great Crusade, towards which we have striven these many months.  The eyes of the Fontana Unified School District are upon us.  Our task will not be easy as we will face challenges by opening up with only freshman and sophomores but as Spartans we will conquer them and be successful.  History is filled with examples of Spartans overcoming obstacles.  In 480 BC, King Leonidas of Greece and his 300 Spartans were facing overwhelming odds when defending a small patch of ground during the Battle of Thermopylae.  The enemy leader told the outnumbered Spartans to give up or otherwise their archers will fill the sky with their arrows and block out the sun.  The Spartans, outnumbered by a ratio of 1000 to1, simply stated “Then we will fight in the shade.”  This is the type of determination we will emulate in reaching our goals at Jurupa Hills High School.  There will be nothing that we will not be able to accomplish when we work together.

I can hardly wait for that first day of school in August so I can officially greet the FIRST SPARTAN student who steps foot on the campus of Jurupa Hills High School.  That day will be special, historic and a premonition of greatness to come.

My fellow Spartans, we have the opportunity of a lifetime to create something special and permanent at Jurupa Hills High School.  As the first Spartans you will have the power to help build a positive educational atmosphere and establish Spartan traditions for others to follow for the next 100 years in the Fontana Unified School District.

At Jurupa Hills High School one of our mottos will be ‘Leave No Spartan behind.’  We believe that ‘All Spartans Can Learn’ and will support all students that need assistance.  A Spartan student is focused, determined and works hard every day to better themselves so they will be prepared for the future.  A Spartan helps other Spartans and continuously strives to be the best.  It is critical that ALL Spartans get involved in school clubs, activities and sports.  Spartan research shows that students who are involved in school activities have better attendance and grades than students who are not involved.

Together, as Spartans, we will step up and overcome each obstacle we encounter. Nothing will stop you from fulfilling your Spartan destiny and nothing can stop Jurupa Hills High School from becoming the finest school in the state.

Jurupa Hills High School staff is proud and ready to receive the 1st Generation of Spartans that will change history.

Beware … the Spartans are HERE!
