"The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get the old ones out." Spartans...clear your mind to the old ways and open up to what's new. 2/2/2010

There is a "no perfect" fix, there is a "no perfect" program, and a "no perfect" solution...only TEACHERS that can perfect their teaching. It is all about the attitude and what they bring to the class everyday. 2/1/2010As we move further into the 21st Century, state officials are beginning to pass laws that can really change how we do business. School vouchers, Online High Schools, Charter Schools, Schoosl of Choice are just the beginning of what is being mentioned. At JHHS we would like to be PROACTIVE...and begin to make the necessary changes before they tell us what we need to do.
We need to really focus on trends that will most benefit and meet the needs of our ever changing student population. What do you think we need to do? 1/29/2010Many of you have heard the wise old saying, " You can lead a horse to water but..." But What? How would you solve this problem without there being a negative result? Think Outside the Box! Jurupa Hills High is a No Excuses School! There is a solution to every problem. Can you find one? 1/14/2010What do you believe are the essential skills/attributes graduates will need in order to be successful in the 21st Century? How much time do you really think we spend teaching these skills to our students? 1/13/2010
Uribe's Top 10 Compelling Reasons That Show Why We Need to Change the Way we Do Business…
1. Dealing and Working with an Antiquated Educational System
2. The System is Based on an the Old Industrial Model/Assembly Line (Non-Flexible)
3. Children are Guaranteed the Right to Attend School but Not the Right to Learn
4. Learners of Today are Not Like the Learners of the Past
5. Status Quo is Destroying Education
6. Creation of Traditional Teacher Kingdoms/Queendoms- Isolation is the Enemy to Improvement (Collective Knowledge and Inquiry)
7. Falling Behind in Global Competition
8. Instructional Lottery- Not All Students are Receiving Equitable Instruction
9. Instruction in Most Classes are Based on Busy Work with No Connections to Real World Applications
10. Student Engagement is Very Minimal Especially as Students Get Older 1/6/2010Do you think this statment is true, "Children have been guaranteed only the right to attend school rather than the right to learn." If it is true, what can we do to change this? Are we in the business of giving "Selective Education" to ONLY selected groups that are capable of learning effectively in this system? 12/15/2009
Beginning from the largest assessment piece to the smallest... CST, CAHSEE, CELDT, District Benchmarks, Semester Finals, Quarter Finals, Chapter tests, Quizzes, Homework, Classwork, Class Participation, and Observation. Which is the most useful?
Traditionally we look first at data from the biggest assessment tools, but trully the BEST data starts from the smallest pieces of assessment. It's time to turn things around! Let us start from the bottom and work our way up. 12/10/2009Shared decision making and the participation of everyone in every aspect of a continuous school improvement process.
