Alejandro Lopez, Principal

Dear Primrose Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Primrose! We are looking forward to a great 2014-2015 school year. Welcome to those who are new to our Primrose family and hope that you feel at home here. Our staff and administration are here to serve you and they are great resources for you. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.

As we begin the implementation of the Common Core standards being used across the nation, we will strive to prepare our students to become critical thinkers, readers, and writers in their journey for future college and career readiness pathways. I want to highlight the following priorities as critical to our continued success:

  • Quality First Best Instruction
  • Timely Intervention through RTI block, small group learning, and targeted tutoring
  • Character Development via Character Counts Instructional Program
  • Effective communication and customer service
  • Safety and school attendance
  • Literacy
  • Numeracy

The home is a child’s primary environment of learning. It’s very important for your child to read every night, have a quiet place to do homework, and have excellent attendance. Our students have access to LEXIA Learning to support their reading and Moby Max to support their math at home. It’s our goal that all students are logging into the LEXIA and Moby Max from home. We are all here to assist you in any way we can to develop his/her full potential. As co-instructors of your children, our faculty and I appreciate and depend on your assistance and cooperation in nurturing all aspects of their development. None of us can do it alone. It takes teamwork.

I extend heartfelt gratitude to our teachers who spent countless hours planning and organizing their classrooms and to our support staff who have done many behind the scenes organizational tasks. I also thank our district and custodial staff for all their hard work preparing the facilities for the new school year.

Always contact your child’s teacher first with any concerns you may have. Please know that I am available to meet with you in person or talk to you over the telephone to discuss any concerns you may have. As the instructional leader of this campus I am here to support our students, parents and staff and ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of our children. Together we can ensure Primrose is a highly effective school.

Respectfully,

Alejandro B. López
Primrose Principal

Our Character Trait for the month of November is Citizenship!
Citizenship is about being an informed, responsible, and caring participant in your community. It means doing your share to make your school and community better. Good citizens cooperate and get involved in community affairs. Citizenship is obeying laws and rules. Responsible citizens do things like volunteering and protecting the environment. Good citizens make good neighbors.

Demonstrating good citizenship is being a person who is involved in trying to make the community, nation, or world a better place. Good citizens are people who are engaged in, whether in big or small ways, considering the needs of others in their community. Good citizenship in practice is understanding, appreciating, and doing things that make life better for you and for others.
