Welcome to Virginia Primrose Elementary School! It truly is an honor to be the principal at such an amazing school. Our school is unique in that we have programs to meet the needs of regular education special education, and preschool students. Our staff is tremendously dedicated to meet the needs of each student that walks onto our campus. We have set three specific academic goals for the 2013-2014 school year. These goals are as follows:
Goal 1: Each student will gain academic proficiency in language arts and math.
Goal 2: (a) Each grade level will make 15% growth when compared to 2012-2013 results in language arts and math, and (b) each grade level will make 20% growth when compared to 2012-2013 results in language arts and math for English Learners.
Goal 3: Freeze in Program Improvement Status.
In order to meet these goals, we are consistently monitoring the progress of each child through DIBELS, a literacy skill assessment for each grade level, and INSPECT Standards-Based grade level common assessments. We use the results in various assessments to provide targeted supplemental and intensive interventions in both language arts and math. In order to ensure the social and emotional well-being of each child, Virginia Primrose Elementary promotes the CHARACTER COUNTS six pillars of character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. Every staff member is committed to implementing the framework school wide to ensure our students are explicitly taught character development. Students will also be awarded “Student of the Month” at our assemblies for their outstanding demonstration of one of the six pillars of character.
We look forward to a successful year full of exciting opportunities and student learning. I look forward to working closely with you and your children to ensure a successful 2013-2014 school year.
