Palmetto Family,

We all know that what children do in school is very important.  But, getting to school is also very important.  As you know, our morning drop off time is busy. Over 900 students are dropped off within a 30 minute time frame in our small parking lot. Please take a moment to review drop off procedures for our parking lot so we can make sure every student arrives to their classroom safely each day.

  • Cars that enter in the loading zone near the sidewalk will drop off their children briefly, then keep moving forward. There is no parking in the loading zone.
  • The cars that form a second line outside of any loading zone is strictly for parking purposes.
  • Cars that are not in the loading zone, and therefore searching for a parking spot can park. Students and parents will need to remain on the parking side, walk up to the crosswalk from the parking stalls, and use the crosswalk to head toward the school entrance gates.
  • Cars that are NOT in the loading zone should not let their students out of the vehicle at any time, until they are safely in a parking spot.

At no time are students or parents to cross our parking lot in the middle of moving traffic without using the crosswalk. This poses a danger to our families. We cannot assume that all moving vehicles will see our little ones and therefore stop for them.

For our 2:55pm dismissal, cars are NOT allowed into the parking lot.  You need to park on the street and walk in to our school campus to pick up your students.  Our driveway gates to our parking lots are closed during dismissal and not opened until after 3:15pm.  This is to ensure that we don't have cars driving through our parking lot while students are crossing through the parking lot to exit campus.

While you are waiting to pick up students, please ensure that you are on the grass area in front of the parking area or on the sidewalk.  Please be respectful of the cars parked in the parking lot and do not sit or lean on the cars.

Please partner with us in modeling good citizenship to our students by following the rules of safety at drop off time. We want to teach our students to be mindful of safe practices so they will grow to learn to be safe in your absence.

Respectfully,

Adele Thomas
