Welcome to Citrus Elementary School. We are proud of our school and our families. All of our staff members are committed to increase student achievement and to make sure that all students are college and career ready by the end of their graduation year.
The focus for Citrus Elementary is to create and implement a plan to promote significant growth in student achievement through the establishment of the Six Exceptional Systems.
1) Culture of Universal Achievement: The staff believes that each student is capable of meeting academic standards in reading, writing, and math. 2) Collaboration: All staff is committed to create collaborative relationships dedicated to achieving results through action in a professional manner. 3) Standards Alignment: Standards are aligned to the Common Core Curriculum which guides the teacher's instruction. 4) Assessment: Assessment is used to support the student and provide opportunities for growth to ensure grade level standards are being met by every student. 5) Data Management: Data is used as a means of securing greater success for each individual student. The data that teachers will receive from teacher made and benchmark assessments will be a means to assist the teacher in meeting the needs of their students. 6) Interventions: Interventions provide additional support both in and out of the classroom. This applies to not only to students who are struggling to meet grade level standards, but for all students who are in need of other approaches in order to reach their next level of success. We will be applying to be part of the No Excuse University Network of Schools by the end of First Semester.
These exceptional systems can only be accomplished with a strong and positive relationship between the home and the school. Please be sure that your child attends school each and every day. Learning can only take place when your child is in the classroom and receiving instruction from their teachers. Keep in close communication with your child's teacher. Please feel free to ask questions, volunteer in the classroom; attend school wide meetings (Sun Chat Tuesdays, English Language Leaners Advisory Council (ELAC), School Site Council (SSC), and Parent Teacher Association (PTA)).
The Instuctional Focus will continue to be on Close Reading and implementing Close Reading across the curriculum. Our school will also be implementing Character Counts which will help our students understand the 6 Pillars of Character; Ttustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. This will form the basis of our school's Postive Behavior Support Systems.
All of us a Citrus Elementary look forward to meeting you and collaborating to ensure your child's success.
